While Therian Masks are traditionally made using thin blank animal party masks, and LARP masks are often associated with latex or rubber construction, our masks are designed to meet the same needs—allowing wearers to express themselves as an animal—while remaining lightweight, breathable, expressive, and combat/sport safe.

Please note: We do occasionally offer masks with custom features that make them not officially combat safe, such as plastic or resin horns or teeth. This is always clearly stated when we have a listing for a premade mask. While most masks shown here are combat/sport safe, we strongly recommend checking with your local group or community (free running, pet play, LARP, or others) before hand. Each group has it's own rules and safety requirements, and what is approved for one event or activity may not be allowed in another.

What makes our masks combat/sport safe?
Our masks are made using expanding foam poured into a custom mold, then fully lined on the inside and furred on the outside. No sharp or rigid objects are added, no sharp plastic edges from a plastic mask, allowing them to be suitable for many LARP and sporting activities.

In some hobbies, such as airsoft, additional protective gear may still be required. Our masks do not replace any safety equipment mandated by an event or group—they are intended as a fun, expressive costume element for roleplay and character work.

Why the name “Therian”?
The term Therian originates from a portmanteau of Greek words: thēríon (θηρίον), meaning beast, and anthrōpos (ἄνθρωπος) or anthrōpinos (ἄνθρώπινος), meaning human. Together, the term loosely translates to “animal person.”

Note: We understand that in some places, therian masks, tails, and other accessories are viewed as spiritual items and may traditionally use real fur. At FurryForge Fursuits, we do not use real fur in any of our products. Please keep this in mind when ordering from us.
